Firing Line, a successful Xavier Bloodstock pinhook, continued his string of impressive races with a 2nd place finish in the G1 Kentucky Derby, losing to winner American Pharaoh by just one length.

Firing Line managed to keep a great pace, maintaining 2nd place the entire way and remaining a serious contender to win until the finish. The three-year-old added $400,000 to his expanding bankroll with the finish, and has now accumulated $974,800 through his first 6 races.

He holds a record 6-2-4-0 over that span, including a win in the G3 Robert B. Lewis Stakes and a 2nd-place finish in the G1 Los Alamitos Futurity.

Firing Line was purchased by Xavier as a wienling for $65,000 and sold as a yearling for $150,000.
